The all-new Valencia Grand Prix

The circuit

An exciting and controversial addition

Shrouded in controversy, the possibility of a new venue for the European Grand Prix was announced by Bernie Ecclestone earlier this year in the run up to the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona in May..

The new addition to the calendar was confirmed as a street circuit, seeking to capture the magic of the Monaco Grand Prix in a fresh, new setting.

Presented by Bernie Ecclestone and the then Mayor of Valencia, the form of the agreement had been finalised but crucially, not signed.  It was then revealed that the Valencia Grand Prix would only happen if the current Mayor won the council elections later in 2007.  Thankfully for you, that's exactly what happened and Bernie Ecclestone confirmed in recent days that the event would go ahead as planned.  Bernie denied that he had decided to back one political personality over another and that his words had been taken out of context but, frankly, who cares!?

The circuit is set along the City's port, a full 5.473 killometres and designed with both the spectacle of the event  and accesibility in mind.  What use would a street circuit be without the fans being able to get up close and personal with the action.
